Improving relations between the United States and Cuba

The object and purpose for which this corporation is organized is exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as tax exempt organizations under section 501 (c ) (3) or section 509 (9) (1) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

The International Cuba Society, Inc. (ICS) will utilize a global outreach to build relationships and promote peace and understanding among the people, leaders and institutions of Cuba, the United States and the world endeavoring to:

  1. Promote engagement between the United States and Cuba through exchanges and cooperation in the fields of policy, business, sports, education, music, arts and culture;
  2. Encourage dialogue between the United States and Cuba; a void which affects fellow nations everywhere;
  3. Recognize engagement and negotiation as useful elements in resolving any differences while maintaining absolute respect for the international laws of sovereignty;
  4. Locate its base in the City of New Orleans where historical ties with Cuba form the logical center for the engagement sought.
